DAMASCUS. Dec 3 (Interfax) - The Syrian government forces have killed over 270 gunmen of the ISIL terrorist organization (banned in Russia) in the course of an offensive operation in the as-Suwayda province, according to Oleg Makarevich representing the command of the Russian contingent in Syria.
"More than 270 militants have been killed, and large quantities of weapons, ammunition, shells, and mines of a foreign make, including 12 TOW anti-tank guided missiles, have been seized as a result of the operation," Makarevich said.
According to him, the operation was held on a volcanic plateau in bad weather.
"The enemy built numerous defense lines full of anti-tank and sniper ambushes, minefields, and maneuvering routes. The enemy had ammo and food depots on all lines of defense," Makarevich said.
