MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to hold talks with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro in Moscow on Wednesday, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has confirmed to Interfax.
Maduro announced early on Tuesday morning that he was departing for Russia.
"At this moment we are leaving for Russia to strengthen and broaden our diplomatic relations and friendly ties between our brotherly nations," Maduro tweeted.
The Venezuelan president said that he was going to have an "intense and highly important meeting with President Putin."
Putin and Maduro last met in Moscow in October 2017, with the Venezuelan president hailing those talks with his Russian counterpart as "extraordinary."
