Russia can detect ballistic missiles on all potential fronts - Gerasimov

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia can detect a ballistic missile launch from all potentially dangerous fronts, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said on Wednesday.

"The creation of a continuous radar field along the borders of the Russian Federation has been completed. As a result, the detection of ballistic missiles from all high-risk fronts and with any flight trajectory is guaranteed," Gerasimov said at a briefing for foreign military attaches.

"The capabilities of the system for reconnaissance and monitoring of airspace on the western and southern fronts have been increased," he said.

Russia continues to re-equip its surface-to-air missile regiments with advanced S-400 SAM systems with enhanced target-interception capabilities, he said. "Over 20 air defense regiments equipped with this system have already been deployed," Gerasimov said.
