S-400 crews fight off simulated airstrike outside St. Petersburg

MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax-AVN) - The air defense forces using S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems have rebuffed a simulated enemy's airstrike in drills held in the Leningrad region, the headquarters of the Western Military District reported.

"In the course of the training, combat crews of S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems performed a number of tasks involving detection of, locking in on, tracking of, and electronic launches at means of aerial attack of a simulated enemy," the district said in a statement on Thursday.

These were scheduled drills, it said.

The S-400 Triumf produced by Almaz-Antey was designed to hit aircraft of strategic and tactical aviation, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets, and other means of aerial attack amid the use of electronic warfare and other types of counteraction.
