VLADIVOSTOK. Dec 7 (Interfax) - The Gromky corvette built for the Russian Pacific Fleet is undergoing factory and state tests in the Sea of Japan, the fleet's press service said in a statement.
Following the test scenario, the corvette hunted for a hostile submarine represented by a diesel sub of the Primorye Combined-Arms Forces Flotilla at a training range. The sub was profiled, contact was established, and the Paket small-sized anti-submarine and anti-torpedo warfare system was engaged, the press service said.
The crew again tested the reliability of the A-190 artillery system. An Ilyushin Il-38 ASW plane of the Pacific Fleet airdropped targets on parachutes, which were successfully destroyed by top-speed artillery fire.
The corvette took Kamov Ka-27PL helicopters aboard the day before. Pilots performed about 30 takeoffs from and landings on the deck of the Gromky by day and at night. All the systems of the ship's helicopter complex were tested, helicopters were fueled, all types of armaments were installed, and hydro-acoustic buoys were loaded.
The Gromky is the second Project 20380 corvette built specially for the Pacific Fleet as part of the rearmament program. It has a length of 104.5 meters, a width of 13 meters, a full displacement of 2,200 tonnes, and a top speed of 27 knots.
On August 31, the corvette was moved from the Amur Shipbuilding Plant to the commissioning base in Vladivostok for the final stage of the trials.
