MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will create new patrol and deck-based aircraft for its Navy, naval aviation chief Maj. Gen. Igor Kozhin said.
In 2021-2030, "we will launch serial production of an advanced air patrol system, an advanced multipurpose helicopter system of the coastal and deck-based type, and a deck-based combat helicopter," Kozhin told the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
"Our naval aviation will receive deck-based radar aircraft, deck-based unmanned aerial vehicles, and an advanced deck-based aviation system," he said.
In 2031-2050, naval aviation will switch to a new generation of multirole aircraft and be armed with a new multirole deck-based helicopter and a long-range patrol aircraft, Kozhin said.
Little is known of the prospective air system intended for the Russian Navy. In February of this year, Valentin Belonenko, chief surface-ship designer at the Krylov State Research Center, said that the Sukhoi Su-57, a fifth-generation fighter aircraft, could get a deck-based version.
There is also a project to develop a new sea-based helicopter, the Minoga, for the Russian Navy. It would replace the Kamov Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopter.
