MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax) - The Russian Justice Ministry has informed the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) about the access of the Ukrainian sailors detained in the Kerch Strait to legal counsel and about the severity of their wounds, stating that they have no complaints, the ministry's press service said.
"Answers from the Russian authorities to the questions about the circumstances of the detention of 24 Ukrainian nationals aboard the Ukrainian Navy vessels Berdyansk, Nikopol, and Yany Kapu, which were stopped by the Russian border guard in the Kerch Strait on November 25, 2018, were sent to the ECHR on December 10," the ministry told Interfax in reply to an inquiry on Tuesday.
The ECHR "has been informed about the detained Ukrainian citizens' whereabouts, their having access to legal counsel, about the non-severity of the wounds inflicted on three of them, the provision of the medical treatment they need, and the lack of any complaints from the Ukrainian citizens. Their situation is being closely monitored by the Crimean, Moscow, and Russian human rights commissioners," the ministry said.
