MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The Southern Military District's missile unit, deployed in the Krasnodar Territory, has conducted a night-time tactical exercise as part of a combat readiness check, the press service for the Southern Military District said on Wednesday.
"Servicemen of the battalions of the Iskander tactical ballistic missile systems have marched to an unfamiliar terrain under blackout measures. Upon the arrival to the determined area, the crews met the training standards of the deployment of the tactical ballistic missile systems and the definition of the data for missile firing and conducted missile launches at intended targets," the press service said.
In addition, servicemen's skill in switching the systems from the travel mode to combat and reloading a missile from a transport and load vehicle to a launching platform at nighttime without access to natural light were tested.
Missile crewmen also drilled the objectives in organizing the protection and defense of the systems in the firing position, including repelling an attack of a maneuver enemy's saboteurs attempting to thwart missile launches, the press service said.
