Zourabichvili tells NATO officer first visit as president to be to Brussels

TBILISI. Dec 12 (Interfax) - James Appathurai, the NATO secretary general's special representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, has spoken highly of his meeting with Georgian President-elect Salome Zourabichvili in Tbilisi on Wednesday.

Important issues, such as NATO-Georgia relations, the unwavering stance of the Alliance on its partnership with Georgia, and support for Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations, were discussed, Appathurai told the press.

Black Sea security and Russia's conduct in Georgia were among the practical issues discussed at the meeting, he said.

Appathurai said he was very pleased with how the meeting went.

According to the administration of the president-elect, Zourabichvili told Appathurai that her first foreign visit as president will be to Brussels, where she will meet with NATO and EU officials.
