MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The situation in Syria and the work of the incident-prevention communication channel were discussed by representatives of Russian and Israeli defense ministries in Moscow on Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The sides discussed current problems related to the Middle East's security and the situation in Syria," the ministry said.
They discussed the "functioning of the direct communication channel between the Russian Hmeimim Airbase and the Israeli Air Force command center in terms of preventing dangerous incidents that could threaten the lives of Russian and Israeli servicemen," it said.
The head of the Russian General Staff's Main Operational Directorate, Maj. Gen. Vasily Trushin, led the Russian delegation. The Israeli delegation was led by the head of the Israeli General Staff's Operational Directorate, Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva.
