FSB busts ISIL financiers operating in Moscow, North Caucasus

MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - The Federal Security Service (FSB) has stopped the activity of a group funding the ISIL and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organizations (both banned in Russia) under the charity disguise.

"Residences of the suspects were searched in Moscow, Chechnya, Ingushetia, and Dagestan on December 11 as part of the criminal inquiry, and many bank cards used for sponsoring terrorism, extremist books, and manuals regarding the procurement of equipment and SIM cards were seized," the FSB public relations center told Interfax on Thursday.

Seven persons were detained, and investigative procedures started.

"Those persons had transferred over 38 million rubles" since 2016, the FSB said.
