Kremlin still deems U.S.' charges against Butina to be baseless - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has no reaction to the confession of Russian citizen Maria Butina and still thinks that her indictment by the United States was completely unfounded, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"You know, no one in the Kremlin has reacted. Once again, we consider all charges brought against her to be totally unfounded and baseless," Peskov said when asked about the Kremlin's reaction to Butina's decision to plead guilty.

"All the rest is a matter of legal proceedings in the United States and the defense of Butina, which we decline to comment on at this stage," he said.

"Let's wait until some testimony is given. Hypothetical assumptions are hardly acceptable," Peskov said when asked whether Butina might be disciplined upon her return to Russia if she testifies against Russian officials.
