MINSK. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko says that his country will never become part of Russia.
"If they want to divide us into regions and stuff them into Russia, it's not going to happen," Lukashenko said at a press conference for Russian journalists in Minsk on Friday.
Even thinking in such terms would harm Russia itself, he said.
For Belarus, sovereignty is sacred, he said.
"This is relative independence. There are no absolutely independent states. And Russia is not all that independent, but it is sovereign," Lukashenko said.
