DAMASCUS. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Russia and Syria have signed a number of cooperation documents, including commercial agreements on the prospecting and extraction of hydrocarbons, according to the Russian secretariat of the bilateral intergovernmental commission.
"A number of interagency and commercial documents were signed at the meeting. These include a memorandum between the industry and trade ministries of Russia and Syria that defines key cooperation areas," a representative of the secretariat said.
The two ministries also prepared, approved, and signed a roadmap of industrial cooperation, the representative said.
"A number of commercial agreements, including ones on the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons, were signed," the representative said.
The Russian-Syrian intergovernmental commission co-chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov met in Damascus on Friday.
Borisov told the press that every signed document concerns civilian issues and is aimed at boosting economic reconstruction.
"Syria has suffered colossal losses, and a lot needs to be done to rebuild its infrastructure and improve the living standards of average Syrians. Every measure we've undertaken and every document we've signed have been aimed at this," Borisov said.
The Russian and Syrian militaries "have broken the back" of terrorists, and economic reconstruction is ahead, he said.
