MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax-AVN) - An air defense missile regiment stationed in the Leningrad region has been fully rearmed with S-400 systems, the press service of the Western Military District told Interfax.
"The air defense missile regiment of the air defense division of the air and air defense forces army of the Western Military District stationed in the Leningrad region has been rearmed with S-400 Triumf missiles. The regiment was armed with S-300 systems before," the press service said.
"The servicemen accepted the systems from the manufacturing plant at the Kapustin Yar range in the Astrakhan region. Test launches were performed, and the required number of planes and missiles of the simulated enemy imitated by supersonic targets were detected and hit on time," the press service said.
The crews are now performing a combined march to the Leningrad region. They will cover over 2,000 kilometers, and the systems will enter combat service to protect military, administrative, and civilian sites.
Almaz-Antey's S-400 Triumf is designed to hit strategic and tactical aircraft, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets, and other aerial attack means amid ECM and other countermeasures.
The system can destroy aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 400 kilometers and ballistic targets flying at up to 4.8 kilometers per second at altitudes ranging from several meters to several dozen kilometers at a range of up to 60 kilometers.
