Russian diplomats visit Butina, urge U.S. jail administration to treat her humanely

MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - Diplomats from the Russian embassy to the United States have visited Russian citizen Maria Butina, who is still being held in solitary confinement and in total isolation, the diplomatic mission said on its Facebook page on Thursday.

"We have demanded that the jail administration treat the Russian citizen humanely and stop applying these unjustifiably severe measures of confinement to her. We continue working to secure her soonest possible release," it said.

Butina has been held in the above-mentioned conditions for more than three months already, it said.
