Azerbaijan, Ukraine must pool efforts to restore territorial integrity - Poroshenko

BAKU. Dec 20 (Interfax) - The joint efforts of Baku and Kyiv in the framework of multilateral initiatives would have an impact on the restoration of the territorial integrity of both Azerbaijan and Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Porosheniko said.

"I believe that the two countries' combining their efforts in the framework of multilateral initiatives and project would have an impact on the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Ukraine," Poroshenko wrote to his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev ahead of the latter's birthday.

Thanks to Aliyev's visionary policy in defense of national interests, Azerbaijan has "turned into a regional leader on a global scale and taken an important place on the international stage," Poroshenko said.

"I would like to note that Azerbaijan remains a reliable, strategic partner for Ukraine. I am certain Azerbaijani-Ukrainian cooperation will be characterized by high dynamics in the future," he said.

Poroshenko wished Aliyev good health and success.

Aliyev will turn 57 on December 24.
