KYIV. Dec 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine wants the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to set up an observation post in Kerch to monitor the situation in the Kerch Strait, Yevhen Marchuk, Ukraine's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group, which mediates the Donbas conflict, said.
"We proposed that the OSCE SMM set up its observation post in Kerch to monitor and control the situation in the Kerch Strait," Marchuk said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
At a TCG meeting on December 19, the Ukrainian side demanded the release of the Ukrainian sailors detained by Russians and the demilitarization of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, he said.
"The Russian side supported practically none of our proposals," Marchuk said.
