Moscow offers to arrange meeting between Palestinian forces, including Hamas - Bogdanov

MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Moscow is ready to help organize a meeting between the leaders of Palestinian forces, according to Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

"We have held many meetings of the kind before. So we could help arrange a meeting of the leaders or right-hand men of Fatah and Hamas whenever they deem it convenient," Bogdanov told the press on Friday.

"We support the mediating efforts of Egypt in this area," he said.

"We are holding active contacts with Hamas and other organizations, whose representatives have visited Moscow. A short time ago, we held a meeting of the Russian-Palestinian high-level working committee, which involved a PLO delegation, a Fatah leader, and [representatives] of several parties," Bogdanov said.

He underlined the importance of Palestinian unity for ending the Arab-Israeli crisis.
