Moscow expects Syrian Constitutional Committee to begin working early next year - Bogdanov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Moscow expects that the final list of candidates for the Syrian Constitutional Committee will be approved in the near future, and that the committee itself starts working in the beginning of 2019, Russian Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and North Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said.

"I believe that misunderstandings will be addressed in the near future and the list of members of the Constitutional Committee will be finally approved then, and it will start working in the beginning of the year," Bogdanov said, replying to an Interfax question.

"The United Nations General Secretariat had some doubts," he said.

"I hope we will find the solution that is agreeable to all parties. Contacts are underway as the lists were presented to the general secretariat's leadership and it did not quite approve something in them," the deputy foreign minister said.
