MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry will complete efforts to remove metal scrap from Arctic islands in 2019, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the Defense Ministry's Public Council on Monday.
A total of 9,000 square kilometers of area in the Arctic Region, where Russian Armed Forces are based, are left to be cleared of metal scrap, he said.
"We will ultimately end this work next year. We find it extremely important, because the conditions, in which we found the Arctic Region, certainly produced an indelible impression," Shoigu said.
