ANADYR. Dec 25 (Interfax) - Bailiffs have taken to Moscow U.S. citizen John Martin who came to Chukotka by a small boat and was detained by Russian border guards in August, the press service of the Federal Bailiff Service's branch in the Chukchi Autonomous District told Interfax.
"The Anadyr City Court has ordered that the foreign citizen, who breached the regulations on staying in the Russian territory, be put in a center for temporary detention of foreigners. He was transferred to Moscow by plane," the press service said.
The American will be staying in that center until his id and travel documents are ready and he can return home.
Russian border guards detained Martin, born in 1972, who sailed in a small boat from Alaska, near Chukotka's Cape Nyambi on August 1. The traveler said he was routed for China but ended up in Russia by mistake.
