MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The combat watch of the frigate Admiral Essen as part of the permanent group of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean has been completed, the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet said on Tuesday.
"The crew have completed accomplishing routine tasks. The ship has started passing through the Black Sea straits, the Dardanelles and the Bosporus, and is now en route to the permanent base of Black Sea Fleet, the city of Sevastopol," the press release said.
The crew of the frigate have accomplished tasks as part of the permanent group of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean since August 2018 and has spent some 300 days at sea in the course of one year, the report said.
During its stay in the far-range sea zone, the crew of the ship took part in an inter-fleet training under the command of the commander of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean.
The frigate Admiral Essen is the second Project 11356 ship of the sea zone. Ships of this series have a displacement of some 4,000 tonnes, their speed is 30 knots, and their cruising endurance is 30 days. They are equipped with Kalibr-NK missiles, missile systems Shtil-1, A-190 gun mounts of caliber 100 mm, anti-aircraft artillery systems, anti-submarine rocket launchers, torpedoes, and can also carry deck-based Kamov Ka-27 (or Ka-31) helicopters.
