MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said he had signed a decree, which has extended the list of Ukrainian individuals and legal entities, which are falling under Russian restrictive measures.
"The list of Ukrainian individuals and legal entities against which special restrictive measures will be applied has been extended. I signed the relevant decree," the head of government wrote on Twitter.
"This has been done to protect the interests of the Russian state, companies and Russian citizens," the prime minister said.
According to the government's decree published on the government's website on Tuesday evening, along with 245 individuals added to the list of Ukrainian sanctioned individuals, seven companies were added to the sanctions list of legal entities, including Ukrainian defense enterprises (the Ukroboronprom and Ukrspetsexport state concerns), the Ukrainian State Export-Import Bank, Tsentrenergo, one of the largest Ukrainian power-generating companies, the TAS Insurance Group, and several transport logistic organizations (the Vertikal forwarding company, the First Logistic Company).
On November 1, Prime Minister Medvedev signed a resolution imposing special economic measures on Ukrainian individuals and legal entities.
The sanctions apply to 322 individuals and 68 legal entities.
The resolution imposed special economic measures, such as blocking (freezing) of accounts and deposits, uncertified securities, and assets in the territory of Russia, and a ban on transferring funds (exporting capital) from Russia.
Judges of the Ukrainian Constitutional Court, deputies of the 8th Verkhovna Rada, major Ukrainian businessmen, members of the Ukrainian presidential administration, heads of Ukrainian executive authorities, and executives of major Ukrainian companies fell under sanctions.
The blacklisted legal entities are controlled by major Ukrainian businessmen.
The resolution's covering letter says the Russian government could cancel those measures if "Ukraine called off the restrictive measures against Russian individuals and legal entities."
"The purpose of this resolution is to counter the hostile actions taken by Ukraine against Russian citizens and legal entities, to promote the cancellation of measures imposed on those persons by Ukraine in the earlier period, and to normalize bilateral relations," it said.
