Jordanian FM to discuss Syria settlement, security issues with Lavrov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman a?-Safadi is set to discuss the Syria settlement process and security issues with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Today's meeting is an opportunity to discuss possible joint measures and to continue coordination in the political settlement process and the provision of security in Syria," as-Safadi said in his opening remarks at the meeting with Lavrov.

"We will definitely discuss the Palestinian problem and its resolution on the basis of the two-state principle," the Jordanian diplomat said.

Jordan views Russia as a key partner in the provision of peace and stability and "the resolution of regional problems," he said.

Lavrov said, for his part, he intended to discuss the Syria situation.

"We are especially hoping to analyze the situation in the Middle East region. This is about the Syria settlement and the role of Jordan, which we appreciate highly," Lavrov said.
