Turkish FM notes good interaction with Russia on Syria enabling progress in political settlement (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - Turkey and Russia have managed to establish good cooperation on Syria, owing to which it was possible to achieve progress in the political settlement and on other tracks, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, the head of the high-ranking Turkish delegation at the talks in Moscow, said at a meeting in a "two-on-two" format involving the two countries' defense and foreign ministers.

"We provide very good support to each other on Syrian issues. Owing to that, very good progress in the political process and on other tracks has been made," he said.

Cavusoglu added that during the talks in Moscow, the Turkish delegation is planning to "evaluate the work thus far, see what and how was achieved and exchange views." "We are here in accordance with an instruction of our president, who attaches great importance to these issues," he said.

"We are ready to engage in all contacts with our colleagues with sincerity," the Turkish foreign minister said.

The Russian-Turkish high-level talks on the situation in Syria are taking place at the Russian Defense Ministry in Moscow on Saturday.
