MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax-AVN) - A flight to outer space may be simulated aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Oleg Orlov, director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IMBP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said.
"We are now discussing with our colleagues the possibility of conducting experiments on the ISS associated with partial isolation of the crew, that is, simulating a flight to outer space to begin developing some autonomous flight elements," Orlov said.
In the preparations for the exploration of the Moon, Russia scientists are working on the assumption that a manned flight to the Moon will take place in 11 years, he said.
"This program should contain a clear indicator of when we will fly to the Moon. This should be the main issue of the entire program. We are now discussing approximately 2030," Orlov said.
This date is based in the calculations of the roadmap of the studies needed for safe sending a human to the Moon. Besides, the training program should envisage work to prepare people for landing and work on the lunar surface.
