EU Council to expand list of Syria-related sanctions

BRUSSELS. Jan 17 (Interfax) - The EU Council of Foreign Ministers will update the list of Syria-related sanctions at its meeting on January 21, a high-ranking EU official said.

Eleven individuals and five entities will be added to the list of persons sanctioned by the European Union, the official said when talking to reporters about the oncoming Council meeting's agenda on condition of anonymity in Brussels on Thursday.

Abiding by the procedure established in the EU, the official refrained from disclosing any detail of blacklisted persons before the official publication of the lists.
