All problems arising during development of engine for Angara LV resolved - head of NPO Energomash

KHIMKL. Jan 18 (Interfax-AVN) - All RD-191 rocket engines delivered to the customer are absolutely fault-free, head of NPO Energomash Igor Arbuzov said.

"Those were only the main points of the report 'On overcoming low-frequency vibrations' that describe the steps that Energomash took to overcome these problems. They have been overcome, these problems don't exist," Arbuzov told media representatives on Friday.

He said he was surprised by the media interpretation of the main points posted on the website of the Korolyov Readings adding that Energomash is the only manufacturer the engines of which can be decelerated to 38%.

"There were inevitable difficulties in the process which we overcame, including the said low-frequency vibrations. Not a single engine can leave the plant even in theory with departures from the technical requirements ordered by customers," Arbuzov said.

He said that all engine components are tested as well as the engine as a whole. Its frequency parameters are tested on a bench, in particular in the framework of acceptance by the military.

"The main points of the article only describe the way of resolving this problem. There has never been any reason for concern," Arbuzov said stressing that the engine would not have been permitted for use, if the problems had not been resolved.

In turn head of Roscosmos Corporation Dmitry Rogozin said that the media publications present the problem resolved in the past as a topical one.

"It is absurd, of course. We were greatly surprised," Rogozin said.
