INZHINERNY-1, Moscow region. Jan 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Sfera, a miniature wireless examination robot, will be delivered to sappers together with the protective suit OVR-2-02, the Russian Defense Ministry told media representatives on Friday.
"The kits of protective suits for sappers OVR-2-02 will include the miniature wireless examination system Sfera," the ministry said.
Sfera is meant for the operative collection and transmission of audio and video data from zones difficult to access and dangerous for humans. It ensures all-round visibility thanks to four video cameras. It is also supplied with a system of vertical positioning.
The robot is remote-controlled. Its operating time with a Li-On accumulator battery is at least 20 minutes at a distance of no less than 50 meters. Having a diameter of 90 millimeters the device weighs no more than 610 grams. A dustproof-and-moistureproof case is used for its storage and transportation.
The suit for sapper formations OVR-2-02 was developed by CJSC FORT Tekhnologia. It is meant to protect a sapper from destructive factors of the explosion of antipersonnel landmines and fragment mines and from bullets. The new suit unlike its predecessor is supplied with a video camera and a portable cooling system.
