Fire being extinguished where Tu-22M3 crash-landed

MURMANSK. Jan 22 (Interfax) - A fire is burning at the site where a Russian bomber crash-landed, a source in emergency services told Interfax.

"There is information that a military plane has crashed and caught fire. Crews of two military units and the 43rd Fire Department from Olenegorsk are working on the scene," the source said.

"A [Tupolev] Tu-22M3 bomber crashed while approaching to land in Olenegorsk [in the Murmansk region]," an informed source told Interfax earlier.

Another informed source told Interfax that the crash occurred near the Olenya military base, an airfield of Russia's Long-Range Aviation on the Kola Peninsula.
