Separate ECM battalion to be established in Novosibirsk region

NOVOSIBIRSK. Jan 23 (Interfax) - A separate ECM battalion of the 41st Combined-Arms Army of the Central Military District will be established in the Novosibirsk region, the district's press service said, citing Army Commander Maj. Gen. Yakov Rezantsev.

"A separate ECM battalion will be established in the Novosibirsk region by the end of this year and equipped with advanced weapons and military hardware, such as the Leer-3 drone system," the press service said.

The battalion will be tasked with disrupting enemy troop- and weapon-control systems, which will enhance the army's capacity to accomplish its missions, it said.

The 41st Combined-Arms Army is stationed in the Novosibirsk and Kemerovo regions, the Altai Territory, and the Republic of Tuva. It comprises mechanized infantry, artillery, air defense, communications, radiation, chemical and biological protection, and logistics and supply units. It is headquartered in Novosibirsk.
