SAMARA. Jan 23 (Interfax-AVN) - A Russian peacekeeping brigade has received a multirole four-drone system Orlan-10 under a government defense contract, the Central Military District stated on Wednesday.
"The new complex will enable peacekeepers to conduct reconnaissance deep behind defense lines of the warring sides and protect big buffer zones without having to move ground control station," the statement reads.
The Orlan-10 is a converted version of the off-road vehicle Kamaz-5350. Its drones can conduct reconnaissance within 100 kilometers from the ground control station.
"The drones have a secure telemetry and command channel, a two-stage jam-resistant encoding, a secure channel of transmission of photo- and video information," the statement reads.
The Separate Motor Rifle Peacekeeping Brigade of the 2nd Guards Army of the Central Military District is based in the Samara region and is the only peacekeeping unit within the Russian Ground Force. It is fully manned with professional soldiers and equipped with the most advanced models of weapon and military hardware.
