Russia's Baltic Fleet planning over 10 distant voyages in 2019

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Ships of Russia's Baltic Sea Fleet will make over ten remote voyages in 2019, Baltic Fleet spokesman Roman Martov said.

"Over ten remote voyages are scheduled: to the Mediterranean Sea, the Arctic Ocean, and the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. Ships and vessels of the fleet will visit Brazil and South Africa," Martov said.

The ships and vessels will take part in combat training, research, maritime training of cadets, and international drills during the voyages, he said.

In 2018, Baltic Fleet ships performed numerous missions as part of the Russian Navy's permanent taskforce in the Mediterranean, which includes warships and support vessels.
