Russia reaffirms commitment to efforts to save INF Treaty at NATO-Russia Council meeting - Russian Permanent Mission to NATO

BRUSSELS. Jan 28 (Interfax) - The talks at the NATO-Russia Council (NRC), in which Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov took part on Friday, focused on the situation created by the U.S.' intentions to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, the Russian Permanent Mission to the North Atlantic Alliance said.

"We highlighted the risks of the INF's collapse for the whole European security architecture and especially for prompting an arms race," the Russian diplomatic mission said in a communique regarding Russia's stance voiced at the NRC meeting.

"We reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to undertaking all necessary efforts to save the INF Treaty. In this regard, we stressed our readiness to continue a professional and meaningful dialogue with the U.S. side on a depoliticized and constructive basis to dispel mutual concerns," the document reads.

Some NRC members raised Ukraine-related issues, it added.

"We underscored once again that this subject matter is discussed in detail in other dedicated formats," the Russian Permanent Mission to NATO said.
