Moldovan president, Russian deputy PM Kozak discuss bilateral cooperation, Transdniestria

CHISINAU. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Moldovan President Igor Dodon and Russian Special Presidential Envoy for development of trade-economic relations with Moldova and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak have discussed the problems of bilateral cooperation.

"We discussed a broad range of issues related to the situation in Moldovan-Russian relations and the prospects of boosting mutually advantageous cooperation. We extensively discussed the mechanism of settling the problem of the transit of Moldovan goods to the Russian market via Ukraine," Dodon, who arrived to Moscow on a working visit on Tuesday, wrote on Facebook.

"The sides reaffirmed the common stance on advisability of Moldova's desire to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with the Commonwealth of Independent States and with the European Union countries" at the meeting, he said.

"In this context the negotiators stressed the prospects of trade-economic cooperation opening with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, in which Moldova has the status of an observer state," the Moldovan president said.

"The interlocutors thoroughly discussed the situation in the Transdniestria" at the meeting, he added.

"I briefed Dmitry Kozak on the agreements that have earlier been reached with the Transdniestrian leadership regarding some aspects of the free participation of Moldovan citizens, who live in the Transdniestrian Region, in parliamentary elections. At the end of the meeting I thanked Dmitry Nikolayevich for his active practical assistance and support in expanding Moldovan-Russian cooperation," Dodon wrote.

As reported, during his visit to Moscow Dodon is planning to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday and with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on Thursday.
