Bomb reports in Murmansk, Vologda regions false

VOLOGDA/MURMANSK. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Bomb threats received by schools and other establishments in Murmansk, Vologda, and Cherepovets have not been confirmed.

"This morning, I began receiving reports about anonymous calls and emails about explosive devices planted at schools and shopping centers in the Vologda region. Many regions of the country have registered such mass emailing," the press service for the Vologda region cited Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov as saying.

According to the press release, no bomb threats at facilities in Vologda and Cherepovets have been confirmed.

In addition, according to the Federal Security Service's (FSB) branch for the Murmansk region, "several pieces of social infrastructure and facilities of the public authorities" were evacuated in Murmansk following the receipt of bomb threats by telephone on Wednesday.

"As part of the response, law enforcement agencies of the region conducted evacuations at the facilities that received these calls. Checks are underway. The reality of the occurrence of explosions at facilities in the region is not being confirmed," the FSB said.

The callers will be identified, it said.

As reported, mass evacuations took place at schools, city halls, and medical facilities in the Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Murmansk, and Pskov regions, Karelia, and Veliky Novgorod following bomb threats on Wednesday.
