MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Submarines stationed at the Novorossiysk naval base have practiced striking ships with missiles in the Black Sea, Black Sea Fleet spokesman Alexei Rulev said.
"In the course of scheduled combat training, the crews of the Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don subs of the Russian Black Sea Fleet imitated a missile strike on a group of ships of a simulated enemy," Rulev said.
A Beriev Be-12 crew provided the subs with information, and the strike was simulated on a computer.
The drill involved the Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don subs, the Beriev Be-2 ASW plane, ASW corvettes, and supply ships of the Novorossiysk base, which posed as a group of ships of a simulated enemy.
The Krasnodar and the Rostov-on-Don took part in the Russian campaign in Syria and fired several Kalibr-PL missiles at ISIL (banned in Russia) positions.
