DPR insists that captives be swapped in Minsk format only

DONETSK. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has denied support to the initiative of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych regarding talks on captive swaps and said it is ready to discuss the issue only with Ukrainian officials in the Minsk format.

"There are the Minsk format and two official negotiators of Kyiv, namely Herashchenko and Medvedchuk. Therefore all questions regarding the exchange of prisoners-of-war or detainees should be addressed in Minsk, and no support should be given to the initiatives of third parties. If that man [Yanukovych] had made the right choice, I believe we would not have had the current situation in Donbas," DPR human rights commissioner Darya Morozova told the press.

The DPR is ready to discuss captive swaps only with official representatives of Kyiv in Minsk by the "all identified to all identified" formula, Morozova said.

Yanukovych said at a press conference in Moscow on February 6 he was ready to initiate an "all for all" prisoner exchange between Kyiv and the Donbas republics.
