Bridge over Samur River on Azerbaijan-Russia border to open in Nov - minister

BAKU. Feb 8 (Interfax) - A bridge across the Samur River on the Azerbaijani-Russian border will open in November 2019, according to Azerbaijani Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev.

Mustafayev and Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin were briefed on progress in the the construction of the bridge on Friday.

"There are plans to commission the bridge in November 2019. The bridge will facilitate and boost cargo transit, which is important for the North-South Transport Corridor," Mustafayev told the press.

The bridge will be 325.3 meters long and 17.5 meters wide. The 36.5-million-manat project is being implemented under a bilateral intergovernmental agreement signed in August 2013. It will replace the existing bridge, which was built in 1957.
