TBILISI. Feb 8 (Interfax) - More than 3,000 troops from NATO member states and partner countries will take part in the Agile Spirit 2019 multinational military exercise to be held in Georgia from July 27 to August 9, the Georgian Defense Ministry said.
Representatives of the countries to take part in the drills discussed their details at a conference in Tbilisi earlier this week, the ministry said.
Agile Spirit exercises have been held in Georgia annually since 2011. They are planned together with the United States European Command (EUCOM).
To take part in the maneuvers, a number of countries will redeploy some military hardware to Georgia. The number and types of this hardware should be finalized at the final planning conference in May 2019.
It had been reported earlier that Georgia would host a joint NATO-GEO EX 2019 command-post exercise in March. The Georgian Defense Ministry said the exercise would involve more than 20 NATO member states and partners and that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is expected to be visiting Georgia at the time.
