TOS-1A Solntsepyok flamethrowers used in drills of Eastern Military District's RCB protection forces

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Pillboxes of a simulated enemy will be destroyed by flamethrower crews of the Eastern Military District during a field practice of radiation, chemical and biological protection forces, district spokesman Col. Alexander Gordeyev said.

"More than 3,400 servicemen and about 450 pieces of hardware, including ARS-14KM mobile spray stations, RKhM-6 reconnaissance vehicles, and USSO universal decontamination stations, are taking part in the large-scale field practice of RBC protection forces," Gordeyev said.

"Crews of Shmel infantry flamethrowers will have live-fire drills in the end of this week. They will fire at targets imitating lightly armored hardware and troops of the enemy on distances of up to 600 meters," he said.

"TOS-1A Solntsepyok crews will be practicing off-road driving, preparation of positions, topographic skills, range spotting, and engagement modelling," Gordeyev said.
