Ukraine approves nearly $1 bln 2019 state defense contract - source

KYIV. Feb 13 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government approved the state defense order for this year on Wednesday, a source in the defense sector told Interfax.

"Today the government approved the 2019 state defense order. Parameters are being correlated with the projected ones," the source said.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade forecast in December that the volume of the 2019 state defense order could total around 25 billion hryvni (around $1 billion), up 19% from last year's 21 billion hryvni.

State funding for the defense sector's industrial development will remain "at the 2018 level," the ministry said.
