Russia, Turkey, Iran agree on steps to reduce violations in Idlib de-escalation area - joint statement

SOCHI. Feb 14 (Interfax) - The leaders of Russia, Turkey, and Iran have agreed to work toward the full implementation of agreements on the Idlib de-escalation area in northwestern Syria.

In their joint statement following the summit in Sochi, the leaders of three countries expressed "serious concern about the attempts of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist organization [banned in Russia] to increase its control in this area."

"[The parties] agreed to counter these attempts and take specific steps to reduce violations in the Idlib de-escalation area by means of the full implementation of agreements, including the memorandum on stabilization in Idlib of September 17, 2018," the statement reads.
