MINSK. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei has called the statement by former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen alleging that Russia wishes to take in Belarus absurd.
"How can I comment on the delusion of retired officers, who stopped working long ago and lost touch with reality?" Makei told the press in Minsk on Thursday.
Rasmussen alleged that Russia wanted to take in Belarus and get closer to the European border and suggested that the people and administration of Belarus launch reforms leading to democracy and freedom, in which case they could count on the assistance of the West.
