Some 4,500 people evacuated from Moscow buildings following anonymous bomb threats on Feb 21

MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Law enforcers examined several hundred buildings following anonymous calls about bombs on February 21 and nearly 4,500 people were evacuated, an informed source told Interfax on Friday.

"Several anonymous bomb threats were received yesterday. Over 700 branches of various banks, as well as several schools and state institutions, were examined in Moscow," the source said, adding that some 4,500 people were evacuated from the buildings.

No dangerous items were found in the buildings, the source said.

A mass wave of bomb hoaxes was recorded in Moscow on February 5, when emergency services received over 500 anonymous bomb threats by a range of means. As a result, over 165,000 people were evacuated from various premises in Moscow two weeks ago. Employees of emergency services and law enforcement agencies examined about 700 facilities at the time and all bomb threats turned out to be false.
