Two suspected militants killed in Nalchik - source

NALCHIK. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Two men who opened fire at the police have reportedly been killed in the course of a counterterrorism operation in Nalchik, an informed source told Interfax.

"According to the preliminary information, two persons trapped in a private house in the Alexandrivka neighborhood of Nalchik who engaged in a shootout with the police have been killed," the source said.

The counterterrorism operation began in some areas of Nalchik at 4:05 a.m. local time on February 27. There is preliminary information that two persons were trapped in a private zone within the counterterrorism operation's zone. A number of special measures and temporary restrictions apply in the period of the counterterrorism operation.
