MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russia hopes the Indo-Pakistani conflict will be settled promptly to prevent it escalating into an all-out war, Frants Klintsevich, a member of the Federation Council Defense and Security Committee, said.
"Russia is very hopeful of a swift settlement of the conflict between India and Pakistan," Klintsevich was quoted by his press service as saying.
"At the heart of the conflict between India and Pakistan, which could escalate into a large war, lie not only the long-running differences between these countries: an escalation could be enabled by a lowering of the global security threshold in general.
"I think it a very big mistake to regard the sanctions war being waged by the collective West against Russia, the provocative voyages of U.S. ships, the U.S.' direct interference in Venezuelan affairs - the list goes on and on - in isolation from any other global process. In today's world, everything is interlinked. The aggressive policy of the U.S. and NATO are making possible what was only yesterday still regarded to be an impossibility," Klintsevich said.
