West must force Kyiv to comply with Minsk accords instead of encouraging Donbas war - Gryzlov

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Western politicians are still supporting the punitive operation in Donbas instead of requiring Kyiv to implement the Minsk agreements, Russia's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Boris Grlyzov told reporters on Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, the modern system of international law is in a crisis, an unstable situation. This is a direct responsibility of Western politicians who backed the armed coup in Kyiv and the punitive operation in Donbas," Gryzlov said.

"The solution lies in the implementation of the Minsk agreements by both parties to the Ukrainian domestic conflict. International community should demand that Kyiv honor all its obligations entrenched in the Minsk documents.

"We periodically hear allegations that Russia 'must comply with the Minsk agreements'. I have to stress once again: both the Minsk agreements themselves and the international documents adopted in their support clearly state [that] Russia is a guarantor, a mediator, and not a party to the conflict."
