MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russian authorities will continue strengthening and developing the army and the navy, these efforts are purely defensive and aimed at providing security for Russia and protecting its sovereignty and national interests, President Vladimir Putin said at an evening ceremony in honor of the Special-Operations Forces Day on Wednesday.
"We will consistently continue with the work of strengthening and developing the army and the navy. I already said that our steps in this sphere are purely defensive and aimed at absolute provision of security for Russia, protection of its sovereignty and national interests," Putin said.
The Special Operations Forces' experience will be in demand in military training of units and sub-units, he said.
"But I am certain that you, too, will keep raising the bar: perfect your mastery, hone the special-operations tactics on the ground, in the air and at sea, and successfully embrace the newest unique equipment which today is manufactured by our industry and designed by Russian design bureaus.
"And, if need be, you will accomplish any mission, the most demanding order, you will do everything impossible - you will neutralize a threat against Russia, wherever it may come from."
